"It works sometimes"

The single most common fault and the hardest to catch. A bad connection reads perfectly
fine on a dead circuit and fails the moment real current goes through it — so we load test and measure
voltage drop across the run instead of checking continuity. It is a connection, not the box, almost
every time.

Green terminals and a floating ground

Long Island boats sit in salt air eight months a year. Dissimilar metals, a damp bilge
and a bonding system doing its job add up to corrosion at every termination. Most "electrical gremlins"
on a ten-year-old boat are twenty corroded terminals rather than one failed component. We re-terminate

Parts & Travel

Parts at cost plus markup. Travel past 30 minutes each way is $40 per half hour per man, door to door. Multi-day work restarts the first-hour rate each day.

Bench and shop time is $125/hr, never the field rate. Diagnostic time is billable whether or not you
go ahead with the repair — you are paying for the fault to be found. Fair pricing, with the cost basis

We diagnose to root cause first, and if the unit itself is dead we tell you whether a factory repair or a replacement makes more sense.

What if you diagnose it and I decide not to repair it?

You pay for the time it took to find the fault, and nothing else. Diagnostic time is real work — meter, wiring diagram, load testing — and it is billable whether or not you go ahead. If the repair is not worth the money we will say so and tell you why, with no pressure either way.

Can you repair at my slip, or does the boat have to go somewhere?

Almost all of it happens at your slip. We bring diagnostic gear, common parts and tools to every call. Component-level bench work — soldering, a factory firmware load, an internal board repair — may need the unit to come off the boat, and we will tell you before we take anything.

Do you repair gauges and instrument panels?

Yes. Faria, Teleflex, Faria Beede and VDO gauges, tank senders, tachometers and speedometers. A gauge reading wrong is more often the sender, the ground or the wiring than the gauge itself, so we test the circuit before anyone buys a new instrument. Which brands do you service?

Garmin, Simrad, Raymarine, Lowrance, Furuno, B&G, Humminbird, Standard Horizon, Icom, Fusion and Minn Kota, among others. For a warranty claim some manufacturers require their own authorised service centre, and we will tell you plainly if your unit falls into that category rather than taking the job.

Can you fix a marine stereo or speakers?

Do you repair trolling motors?

My electronics work sometimes and not others. Can that be found?

That is the most common call we get, and it is the reason we work with a clamp meter rather than a continuity tester. A connection that fails intermittently reads fine on a dead circuit and fails under real load — so we test under load and measure voltage drop across each run. It is almost always a connection, not the box.

How long will it take?

A wiring fault, a bad connection or a blown fuse is usually a single visit. Anything needing a part ordered typically runs three to seven business days. We tell you a realistic range up front and bill only the hours actually worked.

What warranty comes with a repair?

Sixty days on our labor. Any part we supply carries the manufacturer’s own warranty, which on most marine brands is two years or better.
