Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do you charge for the first visit?

Yes. Every visit is a paid service call — $280 flat for the first hour, which covers travel up to 30 minutes each way, setup, and the first hour of work. After that it is $140/hr billed in 15-minute steps. There is no 4-hour minimum, so you only pay for the time you actually use. And we do not waste the hour looking around: whatever we can get done while we are aboard, we do. If you would rather not pay for a trip just to get a number, email photos and the model numbers of what you have and we will price the job at no charge.

How quickly can you schedule a service call?

During peak season (May–September), most calls are scheduled within 1–3 weeks. Off-season scheduling is typically faster — sometimes within a few days. Call 516-448-6221 to check current availability.

Do you work on boats at all Long Island marinas?

Yes, as long as the marina allows outside service technicians, which most do. A few boatyards require you to use their in-house mechanics for engine work, but electronics work is almost always open to outside specialists.

What information do you need to give me a quote by phone?

For simple jobs (single display swap, VHF replacement): boat type, what you have, what you want. We can often give a solid estimate. For complex jobs, we prefer to see the boat before committing to a number. That visit is a paid service call at $280 for the first hour, and that hour is spent working on the boat, not just looking at it.
