Marine electronics in Amityville. This is our home water.
LIME is based in Amityville. The creeks here — Amityville Creek, Narrasketuck — and the run out to the Great South Bay are the water we know best, and a good share of the boats we look after never leave this stretch.
NMEA-certified marine electronics installation and repair, at your dock or marina. No 4-hour minimum, no travel charge locally, and when you call you get the person who does the work.
Not a franchise, not a call center
You are calling a local business, and it shows.
There is a practical difference between a company that covers Amityville and a company that is in Amityville. It is not sentiment — it is response time, it is knowing which marinas want you to check in at the office, and it is being able to come back tomorrow with the one fitting that turned out to be wrong without that becoming a scheduling event.
It also means no travel charge here. Travel up to 30 minutes each way is inside the first-hour rate anyway, and from base that covers Amityville several times over.
And when you call, you get the installer. Not a service writer, not a dispatcher — the person who is going to be standing on your boat. Anything you explain on the phone is heard by the person who has to act on it.
The full list
Everything we do, we do here.
Navigation and fishing
Chartplotters, sounders, transducers, radar and AIS — fitted, networked and set up on the water so you know what you are looking at.
Power and charging
DC systems, house banks, lithium conversions, solar and battery monitoring. We stay on DC and off the vessel AC panel, by design.
Comfort and connectivity
Marine audio, Starlink and onboard WiFi, cameras and cockpit lighting — the things that make a boat pleasant rather than merely functional.
Before we sell you anything
We find the fault before we quote the cure.
The easiest way to make money in this trade is to replace the box. A screen is dark, so you sell a new screen. It is fast, it is profitable, and about a third of the time it does not fix anything, because the fault was never in the box.
We diagnose first. Most "dead unit" calls we take turn out to be power — a corroded ground, a tired fuse holder, a connection that looked fine and was not. Most "failing GPS" calls turn out to be an NMEA 2000 network fault: a missing terminator, an over-length drop, power injected in the wrong place.
Finding that costs you an hour. Not finding it costs you the price of a chartplotter and leaves you with the same problem in six weeks.
Our Work
Marine electronics work we actually do.
The same work, done at your slip in Amityville. Every photo is a real LIME job — no stock, no borrowed images.

Before you sign
Buying a used boat around here?
Most used boats on this stretch come with electronics installed by somebody who is no longer available to explain them, and no manuals. The listing says "fully equipped". What that means in practice ranges from genuinely excellent to a plotter zip-tied to a bracket and powered off a cigarette socket.
We will go and look before you buy. Not a marine survey — we are not surveyors and we will not pretend to be — but a straight assessment of the electronics and wiring: what is actually there, what works, what was improvised, and what it would cost to put right.
It is one of the cheapest hours you will spend on a boat purchase, and it has talked more than a few people out of the wrong one.
What it costs
The whole rate card, no small print.
- $280 flat, first hour — one man, travel up to 30 minutes each way and setup included
- $140/hr after, billed in 15-minute increments
- Two-man crew: $440 first hour, $220/hr after. Second man alone is $160 first hour, $80/hr after
- No 4-hour minimum. No setup charge. Multi-day jobs restart the first-hour rate each day
- Extra travel past 30 minutes each way: $40 per half hour per man, door to door — not applicable in Amityville
- Parts at cost plus markup, quoted before ordering
- Shop, admin and R&D $125/hr; CAD and design $140/hr — never at the field rate
- 60-day labor warranty; equipment carries the manufacturer's warranty
All work is time and materials. We do not give firm fixed prices, and anyone who gives you one on a boat they have not opened is guessing or padding.

Dave and Adam did a great job installing my new trolling motor, heading sensor, batteries, switch, and charger. They even modified my bow rail for the motor to deploy. They were easy to work with and the project turned out great. I recommend LIME very highly.

Great install by David and his team! Complete electronics update, with new panels, gauges & switches. David is very meticulous, detail oriented in his planning and installation. Great communication throughout the process, and finished the project on-time.
Amityville questions
What local owners ask.
You are based in Amityville — does that make it cheaper? It makes it faster, and it removes any argument about travel. Amityville is minutes from base, comfortably inside the 30 minutes each way already included in the first hour, so there is no travel line on your bill at all. The first hour is still $280 because that is the rate; what you get locally is availability.

Can you come the same day?
Often, for local work, if it is genuinely urgent and we have a gap. We will not promise it blind. What we will do is tell you honestly on the phone whether today is realistic or whether it is Thursday — rather than saying yes and disappointing you.
What is on Amityville Creek versus Narrasketuck Creek for access?
Both feed out toward the Great South Bay, and both have boats we look after. The practical difference for us is nothing — we come to whichever dock or marina your boat is on. The difference for you is depth and air draft at your particular dock, which is worth mentioning when you book if it is tight.
Do you do small jobs, or is there a minimum?
No minimum at all, and that is deliberate. A lot of shops impose a four-hour minimum which makes a 40-minute repair absurd. We bill the first hour at $280 and then in 15-minute steps. If your job is an hour, it is an hour.
Can you look at a boat before I buy it?
Yes, and it is worth doing. A pre-purchase look at the electronics and wiring tells you what is actually installed, what is working, and what the previous owner improvised. It is not a full marine survey — we are not surveyors — but on the electronics side it regularly saves people from inheriting somebody else's wiring.
Do you handle warranty work for Garmin, Simrad or Raymarine?
We are certified on the major brands and we install them as an authorised installer. Whether a specific fault is covered depends on the manufacturer and the age of the unit — we will tell you what we think the position is, and we will not charge you to replace something that the manufacturer should be covering.
We are ten minutes away.
Call and tell us what the boat is doing. If it is a quick fix we will say so, and if it is not we will tell you that too.
