SMS Terms & Conditions
If you tick the "text me" box on one of our forms, or tell us on the phone that texting is fine, these are the rules that apply.
Short version: we text you about your job only — the day, the time we're heading over, parts, and payment. No marketing blasts. Reply STOP any time and it stops.
The Program
What we text you about.
Long Island Marine Electronics runs one text message program, and it is about your job. Messages are sent by Long Island Marine Electronics (516-448-6221), a marine electronics installation and repair business serving Nassau and Suffolk County, New York.
Typical messages:
- Confirming the day and time of your appointment.
- Telling you we're on the way, or that we're running late.
- Letting you know a part came in, or that we need a model number before we can order.
- Sending you a link to your work order, invoice, or payment page.
Example: "LIME: you are booked for Tue Aug 18 at 9:00 AM. Questions, call 516-448-6221. Reply STOP to opt out."
We do not send promotional blasts, newsletters, or third-party offers by text, and we never text people we don't have a job with.
Consent
How you opt in.
There are two ways, and both require you to say yes first:
- On the website — every form that asks for a phone number (book a service call, request a quote, and our parts order form) has an unticked checkbox reading "Text me about this job." It is never pre-ticked, and the form submits fine without it.
- On the phone — if you book by calling us, we ask out loud whether it's OK to text you about scheduling and arrival times, and we record your answer against your job.
Consent is not a condition of purchase. Say no and nothing changes about the work, the price, or how fast we get to you — you'll just get a phone call or an email instead.
What to Expect
Message frequency and cost.
Frequency varies and depends on your job. A simple service call might be two or three messages start to finish. A refit with parts on order might be a handful more over a few weeks. When the job is done, the messages stop.
Message and data rates may apply. We don't charge you anything for texts, but your mobile carrier may, depending on your plan. Check with your carrier if you're not sure.
Questions about any of this? Just ask.
Opting Out
STOP, and HELP.
To stop: reply STOP to any message from us. You'll get one confirmation that you've been unsubscribed, and then nothing further. You can also call 516-448-6221 or use the contact page and we'll take you off at our end.
To get help: reply HELP to any message, or call 516-448-6221. A person answers that number.
To start again: tick the box on any of our forms, or tell us on the phone. Opting out of texts never stops us reaching you about your job — we'll just call or email instead.
The Fine Print
Carriers, devices, and delivery.
Text messages are supported by all major US carriers, including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, US Cellular, and their smaller resellers. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery is not guaranteed — if something is time-critical about your job, we call.
Messages are sent to the mobile number you gave us. If you change or give up that number, tell us, so we're not texting your job details to whoever gets it next.
Your Number
Privacy.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Your number goes only to the messaging provider that delivers the message on our behalf, and only so it can be delivered.
We keep a record of your consent — the wording you agreed to, the date and time, and where it came from — because that record is what proves we had permission. The full detail is in our privacy policy.
