Privacy Policy

Plain English: we collect what we need to quote your job, do the work, bill you, and stay in touch about it. Nothing else, and we don't sell any of it.

This policy covers longislandmarineelectronics.com and everything Long Island Marine Electronics does with your information — including the phone number you give us for text messages.

Who You're Dealing With

Who we are.

Long Island Marine Electronics ("LIME", "we", "us") is a marine electronics installation and repair business serving Nassau and Suffolk County, New York. We are a mobile service — we come to your boat — and we are reachable at 516-448-6221 or through the contact page.

This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who it goes to, and how you get it removed. It applies to this website, our quote and booking forms, our email, and our text messages. It was last updated on August 11, 2026.

The Data

What we collect.

Only what a marine electronics job actually needs:

Information you give us

  • Contact details — your name, email address, phone number, and mailing or billing address.
  • Job details — your boat, the marina or dock where it sits, the service address, what's wrong or what you want installed, and photos or model numbers you send us.
  • Scheduling and work records — appointment dates and times, arrival and departure times, the work performed, parts used, and your signature on the completed work order.
  • Payment details — handled by Stripe. Card numbers are entered directly into Stripe's payment field and never touch our website or our servers. We see only the last four digits, the card brand, and whether the payment succeeded.
  • Text message consent — if you tick the box to be texted, we record that you agreed, the exact wording you agreed to, the date and time, and the IP address it came from.

Information collected automatically

  • Standard web logs — IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and the site or search that sent you here. Our host (WP Engine) and Cloudflare keep these to run and protect the site.
  • Analytics — we use Google Analytics and Google Search Console to see which pages get read and which searches find us. That data is aggregated; we are not watching individuals.
  • Cookies — the site sets cookies to keep it working and to run the analytics above. You can block or delete cookies in your browser; the site still works, though some conveniences stop.

We do not collect Social Security numbers, and we do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 16.

The Purpose

How we use it.

  • To answer your quote request and price the job.
  • To schedule the visit, confirm the day and time, and tell you when we're on the way.
  • To do the work — knowing the boat, the gear, and the marina is the job.
  • To bill you, take payment, and send receipts and work orders.
  • To follow up afterwards about warranty, parts on order, or a review request.
  • To keep the records New York State and our insurer require us to keep.
  • To improve the website and understand which services people are looking for.

We do not sell your personal information, and we never have. We don't rent it, trade it, or hand it to data brokers.

Text Messaging

Text messages and your mobile number.

If you give us your mobile number and tick the box to be texted, we may send SMS about scheduling, arrival times, parts, and payment for your job. Message frequency varies by job. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to opt out, or HELP for help. Consent to receive texts is never a condition of buying anything from us. Full details are on the SMS terms page.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All of the other categories in this policy exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent — that information is not shared with any third party.

Your number is passed only to the messaging provider that physically delivers the message on our behalf (Brevo), and only so it can be delivered. It is not used to build audiences, it is not sold, and it is not shared with anyone else.

When you opt out, we clear the consent on our side and the provider suppresses your number on theirs. We keep the record that you opted out — that record is how we prove we stopped.

Third Parties

Who we share information with.

Only the companies that make the business run, and only for that purpose:

  • Stripe — payment processing. They handle card data directly under their own privacy policy.
  • Brevo — the email and SMS delivery platform that sends our confirmations, receipts, and text messages.
  • WP Engine and Cloudflare — website hosting and security.
  • Google — Analytics and Search Console for website traffic, and Google Business Profile for reviews you choose to leave.
  • Suppliers and manufacturers — when a warranty claim or a special order requires your boat and job details.

We will also disclose information if the law requires it — a subpoena, a court order, a tax or regulatory obligation — or to protect our rights or someone's safety. If the business is ever sold, customer records may transfer with it; this policy would follow them.

How Long We Keep It

How long we keep it.

Job records, invoices, and work orders are kept for at least seven years — that's what tax rules, warranty claims, and our insurance require. Quote requests that never became a job are kept for two years so we can pick up where we left off. Text message consent records are kept for as long as we have your number plus four years, because a consent you can't produce is a consent you didn't have.

Website analytics is retained on Google's schedule and is not tied to your name.

Your Rights

Your choices.

  • Stop the texts — reply STOP to any message, or call us. Takes effect immediately.
  • Stop the emails — click unsubscribe at the bottom of any marketing email. Job-related emails (receipts, work orders, appointment confirmations) keep coming while the job is live, because they're part of the service.
  • See what we hold — email or call and we'll tell you.
  • Correct it — tell us and we'll fix it.
  • Delete it — we'll delete what we're not legally required to keep. We can't delete invoices and job records inside the retention period above.

New York residents, and residents of states with their own privacy statutes, have these rights by law. We honor them for everyone regardless of where you live. We will never charge you or treat you differently for exercising them.

Keeping It Safe

Security.

The site runs on HTTPS end to end. Payment card data goes straight from your browser to Stripe and is never stored by us. Our job portal is password-protected and blocked from search engines. Access is limited to the people doing the work — which, at LIME, is a very short list.

No system is perfect, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. If a breach ever affected your information, we'd tell you.

Updates

Changes to this policy.

We'll update this page when what we do changes, and the effective date at the top will change with it. Material changes to how we use your information will be announced by email or text to the address or number we have for you.
