About Oyster Bay
One of the best-protected harbours on the North Shore.
Oyster Bay is the kind of harbour people keep boats in precisely because the weather does not get in. It is deep, sheltered and large enough that the fleet ranges from small daysailers up to serious motoryachts, with the Oyster Bay Marine Center and the town marina at the head of it.
What that means for us is variety. In one week here we might integrate a plotter into a twenty-year-old autopilot, mount a Starlink dish, and rebuild a sportfish helm. It also means shorter runs between jobs than out east, which keeps travel off your bill.

Protected, but the Sound is not
The harbour is calm. Ten minutes outside it you are on Long Island Sound with ferries, tugs and barges. AIS earns its money the moment you leave the moorings.
Fog on the Sound
North Shore fog rolls in fast and sits. Radar is not a luxury here — it is the difference between turning for home confidently and guessing.
Traffic in the channel
The approach is busy in season. A properly set up plotter with AIS overlay makes the channel far less stressful on a summer Sunday.

What It Costs

$280 for the first hour with one installer — that covers travel up to
30 minutes each way and setup — then $140/hr billed in 15-minute
steps. A two-man crew is $440 for the first hour, then $220/hr. Oyster Bay sits inside the included travel window, so a standard service call here carries no door-to-door travel surcharge.
There is no four-hour minimum and no separate setup charge. Parts are at cost plus markup, and we
supply what we install so the warranty sits in one place. We do not give fixed quotes — on a boat
with systems already aboard a firm number gets padded to be safe, which is not fair to you.
Sixty days on our labor; equipment carries the manufacturer's warranty.

Yes, along with the town marina and private dockage around Centre Island and Cove Neck. We come to the boat wherever it sits.
Do I really need radar on the Sound?
If you run in the fog, yes. North Shore fog arrives quickly and does not lift on schedule. Radar plus AIS means you can see the ferry and the ferry can see you.
Do you take on municipal or commercial vessels?
Yes. We have installed electronics on a Town of Oyster Bay patrol vessel. Commercial work is handled the same way — time and materials, insured, to ABYC standards.
Can you integrate new displays with an older autopilot?
Usually. If the pilot is sound we integrate to it rather than selling you a replacement. Drive units and hydraulics stay with your yard.
How quickly can you get out here?
Sooner than for the East End, because the drive is short. Call and we will tell you honestly where the schedule stands.
