What Changes On A Bigger Boat
Bigger boats are a wiring and integration job, not a bolt-on.
On a center console you mount a display, run a cable and you are done. On a 60 ft motoryacht the same
display has to talk to the autopilot, the engines, the radar, the AIS and often the entertainment
system, over a backbone that runs the length of the boat through spaces built to be looked at rather
than worked in. The install is the easy part. Planning the runs, protecting the joinery and making
everything talk is the job.
Networked, Not Standalone
Everything on a modern yacht shares data over NMEA 2000. Adding one display means checking what the backbone already carries and whether it has room.
Runs Through Finished Spaces
Cable has to get from the helm to the mast, the engine room and the transom without cutting into cabinetry someone paid a lot for. Slower, and worth doing properly.
Multi-Day By Nature
A full helm is rarely a one-visit job. We plan it as several days, tell you the realistic range up front, and bill only the hours actually worked.

114 ft Burger — full electronics refit
The largest vessel we have refitted. Overhead cable routing, a rebuilt backbone and a
complete navigation suite. On a boat this size the cable schedule matters more than the hardware.
62 ft Viking — complete helm rebuild
A sportfisher helm stripped and rebuilt: multi-display, radar, sounder and autopilot
integration. Sportfish owners fish the boat hard, so everything has to survive a real season offshore.
77 ft Lagoon — navigation and communication suite
A large cruising catamaran: two hulls, long runs and a crew who live aboard. Navigation,
communications and onboard connectivity, installed so it can be serviced later without pulling the boat apart.

where most of this work happens.
Sag Harbor
Deep-water dockage and some of the largest private vessels on the East End. We work at Sag Harbor Village Marina, Sag Harbor Cove Yacht Club and Ship A Shore.
Oyster Bay & Cold Spring Harbor
Gold Coast harbors with large motoryachts and sportfishers. Oyster Bay Marine Center and the town marina are regular stops.
Port Washington & Manhasset Bay
The densest yacht club and marina cluster in Nassau County. Short runs between boats make multi-day work efficient here.
Montauk
The serious sportfishing port on Long Island. Offshore boats with radar, satellite communications and sounder packages that get used hard.
Huntington & Lloyd Harbor
Big North Shore marina cluster with a deep mix of cruisers and sportfish, plus a lot of private dockage along Lloyd Harbor.

What We Install
Systems on a yacht helm.
Most jobs are some combination of these, and most of them have to work together.
Multi-Display Navigation
Garmin, Simrad, Raymarine and Furuno. Two, three or four screens sharing charts, radar and sounder, laid out so the important one is where you actually look.
Radar & AIS
Open array and dome radar, AIS transceivers, mast and hardtop mounting with cable runs that do not fight the rigging.
Autopilot Integration
Tying a new plotter into an existing autopilot. We integrate to the pilot; drive units and hydraulics stay with the yard.
Satellite & Onboard WiFi
Starlink and marine satellite communications, mounted and powered off the house bank, with onboard WiFi that covers the whole boat.
NMEA 2000 Backbones
The spine of the boat. Built properly, terminated properly, and documented so the next person can work on it.
Custom Helm Panels
CAD-designed and machined panels when the factory dash will not take the new gear. Designed to look like it left the factory that way.
Full Helm Refits
When the whole helm comes out.
Boats built ten or fifteen years ago often have good bones and dead electronics. A refit replaces the
lot: displays, backbone, radar, sounder, autopilot integration and usually a new panel to hold it.
It is the biggest job we do and the one that changes how a boat feels the most.
What Gets Replaced
Displays, network backbone, transducers, radar, antennas and the dash panel itself. Old cable comes out rather than being left in the boat.
What Stays
Anything still doing its job. If the autopilot drive is sound we integrate to it instead of selling you a new one.
How It Runs
What actually happens.
1. Look At The Boat
Photos of the helm and the model numbers on what is there now. On a big refit that means coming to see it — guessing at a yacht helm wastes a trip.
2. A Realistic Range
Time and materials with an honest range of hours and a parts list, in writing. Never a fixed price we would have to pad to be safe.
3. Parts On Hand First
Nothing starts until the equipment is here. Half-finished helms sitting through a weekend help nobody.
4. The Work
At your slip. Covers down, tools off the teak, and the boat left usable at the end of each day on a multi-day job.
5. Sea Trial
Anything involving a sounder, radar or autopilot gets calibrated in open water, not at the dock.
6. Shown, Not Handed Over
We walk you through it on the boat. Sixty days on our labor, manufacturer warranty on the gear.
What It Costs
Time and materials, told straight.
$280 for the first hour with one installer — that includes travel up
to 30 minutes each way and setup — then $140/hr billed in 15-minute
steps. A two-man crew is $440 for the first hour, then $220/hr. Travel past 30 minutes each way is
$40 per half hour per man, door to door. Multi-day refits restart the first-hour rate each day.
There is no four-hour minimum and no separate setup line. Parts are at cost plus markup. We never
quote a fixed price on a yacht refit — on a boat with systems already aboard, a firm number either
gets padded to be safe or gets revised once the panel comes off. Neither is fair to you.

Which marinas do you cover?
All of Nassau and Suffolk. Regular yacht work runs through Sag Harbor, Oyster Bay, Port Washington, Montauk, Cold Spring Harbor and Huntington. We come to your slip — the boat does not move.
How is a large-vessel job priced?

Can you integrate new displays with the systems already on board?
Usually yes. Most of the work on a larger boat is making new equipment talk to what is already there over an NMEA 2000 backbone — autopilot, engines, radar, AIS, entertainment. We check what is on board before ordering anything.
Do you supply the equipment, or can I buy my own?
We supply everything we install. That keeps the warranty and the responsibility in one place — if something fails we handle it rather than sorting out who is at fault.
How long does a full helm refit take?
A straightforward multi-display helm is often two to three days. A full refit with new networks, radar and autopilot integration can run a week or more. We give a realistic range up front and bill only the time actually worked.
Do you handle the AC side of a yacht?
No — we stay on DC and the house bank. Vessel AC panels are licensed electrician territory. We will coordinate with your yard or electrician, and say clearly what falls outside our scope.
What warranty comes with the work?
Sixty days on our labor. Equipment carries the manufacturer’s own warranty, which on most marine brands is two years or better.
