Victron installer on Long Island — supplied, installed, configured, at your slip.
MultiPlus and Quattro inverter/chargers, SmartSolar MPPT controllers, Cerbo GX monitoring, Orion DC-DC charging, lithium-ready distribution. We are the Victron installer Long Island boat owners call when they want the system designed right, wired to ABYC, and set up so it actually does what the brochure said.
NMEA certified, fully insured, mobile across all of Long Island. When you call, you get the installer — the same person who configures the system and answers the phone afterwards.
The Victron Lineup
What a Victron installer on Long Island actually puts on your boat.
Victron is not one product, it is a system: charging sources, storage, distribution and a brain that ties them together. The value is in choosing the right pieces for the boat and configuring them as one system — not in bolting a blue box to a bulkhead. These are the components we supply and install.
MultiPlus & Quattro inverter/chargers
Pure sine inverter and multi-stage charger in one, with PowerAssist so a small dock outlet or generator still runs the boat. 12/3000/120 is the common Long Island fit; Quattro where there are two AC inputs.
SmartSolar MPPT charge controllers
75/15 through 250/100. Sized to the array and the bank, fitted with a solar isolator and inline fuse, and set to the battery chemistry — not left on the factory default.
Cerbo GX, GX Touch & VRM
The system’s brain and screen. Every Victron device on one display, and the whole boat visible on your phone through the VRM portal — state of charge, solar, shore, alarms.
Orion-Tr Smart DC-DC chargers
Charges the house bank from the engine without cooking the alternator, and isolates start from house so a dead house bank never means a dead engine. Essential with lithium.
SmartShunt & BMV monitors
A real state-of-charge reading instead of a voltage guess. Bluetooth to VictronConnect, VE.Direct to the Cerbo.
Lynx distribution & Blue Smart chargers
Lynx Distributor and Power-In for clean, fused, single-point DC distribution; Blue Smart IP65/IP67 chargers where the boat only needs a proper dock charger.
Recent Victron Work
Two recent Victron jobs on Long Island boats.
Real boats, our own photos, this month. Both are the kind of call we get most: a Victron system that was installed by somebody else and never set up as a system.
2019 Aquila 36 Sport — Britannia, Northport
The owner booked “guidance and troubleshooting on the Victron solar system and inverter.” The hardtop panels were aftermarket, the starboard start battery kept dying, and nobody could explain why. Working through the system with VictronConnect: the SmartSolar MPPT had shorted and was doing nothing, and the Orion DC-DC had been left in power-supply mode — pulling from the start battery around the clock regardless of engine state. We reset the Orion, then specified the fix: a new SmartSolar MPPT 150/70 with pluggable display, a lockable IP66 solar isolator and 1000V inline fuse, an Orion-Tr Smart 12/12-18 so start and house charge each other in both directions and stay isolated, MRBF terminal fusing, and a VE.Bus Bluetooth dongle so the MultiPlus 12/3000/120 finally talks to the phone. Parts ordered and paid for on that visit.
2026 Dragonfly 36 — Knutson’s, Huntington
A brand-new performance trimaran on a commissioning punch list: the Victron GX display was dead, there was a burning smell in the engine space whenever shore power was connected, and the helm harness had been left rubbing on the steering chain under the displays. A day on the boat: every Victron device checked and photographed with its part number, the display fault traced and the replacement fitted, the harness re-routed and bundled clear of the chain, and the shore power path inspected and documented for the builder. The system reports cleanly to the MultiPlus and the GX again.

Configuration & Diagnostics
Most Victron problems are settings, not hardware.
A Victron system out of the box is set for a generic lead-acid battery, a generic shore supply and no other devices on the boat. Left that way it under-charges lithium, trips the dock breaker, or quietly drains a bank — and the owner concludes “Victron is complicated.” It is not. It is configurable, and somebody has to configure it. That is the part of a Victron installer’s job that never shows up in a photo.
VictronConnect & firmware
Every device updated, named, and set to the battery maker’s charge profile — absorption, float, tail current, temperature compensation. Bluetooth PINs changed from 000000.
MultiPlus / Quattro setup
Input current limit matched to the dock pedestal, PowerAssist on, charger current sized to the bank, and the inverter’s low-voltage cutoff set where lithium wants it, not where lead-acid did.
Cerbo GX & VRM commissioning
DVCC configured so the shunt is the single source of truth, all devices reporting, the VRM portal set up on your phone with alarms that mean something.
Solar & MPPT
Victron solar on a Long Island boat — panels, MPPT and the bits between.
The controller is the easy part; what fails in practice is everything around it. We fit the SmartSolar MPPT with a lockable solar isolator so the array can be safely disconnected, a rated inline fuse on the PV side, correct wire gauge for the run, and MRBF fusing at the battery. Series versus parallel strings are chosen for the shade pattern on your hardtop, not by habit. If you are starting from scratch, our
marine solar installation page covers panel choice and sizing; walkable semi-rigid panels are
here.
- SmartSolar 75/15 – 100/30: one or two panels on a center console or small cruiser.
- SmartSolar 150/45 – 150/70: hardtop arrays on 30–40 ft boats; the 150/70 on the Aquila above.
- SmartSolar 250/85 – 250/100: larger series strings on catamarans and cruising sailboats.
- Lithium house bank: add an Orion DC-DC for the alternator and a SmartShunt for state of charge — see marine lithium batteries.
How A Job Runs
From a phone call to a system you can see on your phone.
1. The boat, the loads, the goal
What is on the boat now, what you run at anchor, how you charge today. Photos of the panel and battery space are enough to start; we confirm on the boat.
2. Design and parts list
A component list sized to the boat — inverter/charger, MPPT, DC-DC, shunt, distribution, fusing, wire — quoted time and materials. We supply every part; parts are paid up front through a link so they are on the truck the day we arrive.
3. Install, configure, hand over
Wired to ABYC, every device configured and firmware-current, VRM on your phone, and a walkthrough at the panel before we leave the dock. 60-day labor warranty; Victron’s own warranty on the gear.
What It Costs
Victron installation pricing on Long Island — time and materials.
$280 for the first hour for one installer — travel up to 30 minutes each way and setup included — then $140 per hour in 15-minute steps. Two-man crew $440 first hour, $220/hr after. No four-hour minimum, no separate setup line. Travel beyond 30 minutes each way is $40 per half hour per man, door to door. Equipment at cost plus markup, supplied by us — we install what we supply so the warranty chain is clean. Design and CAD time, when a job needs drawings, is $140/hr. Costs are given up front, before work starts, and the final bill is the time actually worked.
Rough scale, for planning only: a MultiPlus swap is usually a half day; a SmartSolar MPPT with isolator, fusing and display is two to three hours; a full Victron system — inverter/charger, MPPT, Cerbo, DC-DC, shunt and new distribution — is one to two days plus equipment.
Victron publishes its own dealer and installer locator; we buy through authorized Victron distribution so every unit we fit carries the factory warranty.

I had my marine electronics installed by Dave and did a great job. I especially appreciated that the final price matched the estimate, no hidden costs. Had him come back a year later for assistance in updating software. Overall a great experience.
FAQ

Can you fix a Victron system somebody else installed?
Yes, and that is a large share of our Victron work. Most problems we find are configuration, not hardware: an Orion left in power-supply mode draining a start battery, an MPPT with the wrong battery preset, a MultiPlus with the input current limit set for a dock the boat no longer uses. We diagnose with VictronConnect and VRM, fix the settings, and replace only what has actually failed.
What does a Victron MultiPlus install cost on Long Island?
Time and materials, never a fixed price. $280 covers the first hour for one installer including travel up to 30 minutes each way and setup, then $140/hr in 15-minute steps. A straightforward MultiPlus swap is usually a half day; a full system with MPPT, Cerbo, DC-DC and new distribution is one to two days. Equipment is supplied by us and billed separately at cost plus markup. There is no four-hour minimum.
Do you install Victron solar and MPPT charge controllers?
Yes. SmartSolar MPPT is the controller we fit most — 75/15 on a small array up to 150/70 and 250/100 on hardtop systems — with proper solar isolation switches, inline fusing and a display or Bluetooth so you can see what the panels are doing. We size the controller to the array and the bank, not to what is in stock.
Can you set up VRM remote monitoring?
Yes. With a Cerbo GX or Cerbo-S and an internet link — the marina Wi-Fi, a Starlink, or a cellular hotspot — the whole system reports to Victron’s VRM portal. You see state of charge, solar yield, shore power and alarms on your phone from anywhere, and so can we when you call with a question.
Will Victron work with my lithium batteries?
Victron is the platform most lithium banks are designed around. We set charge voltages and absorption times to the battery maker’s specification, add a SmartShunt or BMV for real state of charge, and fit an Orion DC-DC so a lithium house bank cannot overwork the engine alternator.
Do you do shore power and AC panels?
The AC side of a Victron inverter/charger — its input, output and the boat’s AC distribution — is licensed-electrician territory and we refer that out. We handle the DC system, the Victron configuration, the charging sources and the monitoring, and coordinate with the electrician where the two meet.
Where on Long Island do you work?
Everywhere — Nassau and Suffolk, both shores, the East End. We come to the boat at its slip, mooring or yard. Travel up to 30 minutes each way is included in the first hour; beyond that it is $40 per half hour per man, door to door.
Want your Victron system done right?
Tell us the boat, the marina and what you are trying to power. A photo of the battery space and the panel helps. We will tell you what fits and what it takes.
